30+ Epic Easter At Home How To Celebrate Ideas

Spread the love

Easter is upon us once again. And though we might be limited on how to celebrate Easter this year like last year, the reason for the season stays the same. Celebrating Easter at home can be equally fun and exciting especially for the young ones. And here are some ways on how to celebrate an “epic” Easter at home this year.

What is Easter?

Easter is a Christian tradition that celebrates the belief in the resurrection of Jesus Christ Jesus from the tomb on the third day after his crucifixion. According to the New Testament, Easter is three days after the death of Jesus on the cross.

The week leading up to Easter is called The Holy Week, or also known as “Passion Week”. It includes Palm Sunday (the day Jesus entered Jerusalem and was celebrated), Maundy Thursday (the “Last Supper” where Jesus met with his disciples to observe Passover), and Good Friday (when Jesus would be crucified on the cross).

Hence, Easter calls for a family celebration.

When is Easter?

Easter falls on April 4, 2021.  The Easter date changes each year.

Future Easter Sunday Dates:
April 17, 2022
April 9, 2023
March 31, 2024
April 20, 2025

Easter at Home

One of the first celebrations in Spring is Easter. It’s something most of us look forward to. And my family loves to celebrate Easter at home.

With some restrictions that we have this year, here are some ways you can celebrate Easter at home.

Explore your creativity. Make use of what you have. And just have fun!

Backyard Easter Egg Hunting

If you have a yard, this is a great way for the kids to still do egg hunting. Easter at home sounds more fun with egg hunting involved. Hide the eggs and surprise the kids in the morning with egg hunting. But if you don’t have a yard, inside the house is an equally fun place to do egg hunting.

Listen to or Livestream a Church Service

If you are religious and wants to attend a Sunday mass but can’t, most Churches live stream their services. And some radio stations also offer airing the local Sunday Church service.

Easter Brunch with the Family

Easter brunch is kind of a tradition of my family. Pancakes, waffles, eggs, sausage (and coffee for me) sound really delish! And even more memorable if spent with family in this occasion.

Prepare Easter Basket

Easter at home with kids is not the same without Easter baskets. And no, Easter baskets don’t have to be very expensive, you can even find things to put inside your basket at your local Dollar store. My daughter enjoys having a treat, a book, and a small toy in her Easter basket.

And Easter basket is not just for kids. Prepare one for yourself too or your partner.

Exchange Easter Presents

Presents need not be limited to just birthdays and Christmas. Easter is a celebratory tradition of life. And one way to show thanks to your loved ones is through Easter presents. Add these customized gift tags for extra flair!

Dress Up for Easter

Wear that dress. Dress-up your kids and enjoy Easter at home. Wear whatever makes you feel good and feel a dramatic change in your overall mood. And take family photos!

Easter Family Photos

Having family photos is important. Find out here why. And this is a keepsake that can last forever to commemorate this season spent with family.

Egg Painting

Bring out your egg coloring kit and have fun doing this with the kids. This is not only an Easter craft but also a great family bonding moment.

Here are some Egg Coloring Kits:

Scavenger Hunt at Home

This is an oldie but goodie game for everyone. Set it up for the whole family to enjoy.

Side Walk Chalk

Draw, color, sketch, or write on your sidewalk, driveway, or in your yard if possible. Let the kids use sidewalk chalk or finger paints (washable). Or write encouraging Easter messages.

Read an Easter Book

Books are fundamental especially for young minds. And incorporating reading with the family forms that bond and learning together is fun and enjoyable. Easter books for kids are great way to celebrate Easter at home.

Easter Cake

Who says cake is for Birthdays? Since Easter symbolizes re-birth, a cake is just well-suiting. Bake an Easter cake at home for the whole family to enjoy. Or order one and support your local store and eat it to commend Easter at home.

Send Easter Cards

Sending and receiving cards may not be as ‘trendy’ now with all the gadgets and apps, but still, nothing beats a personalized and hand-written notes and cards to send to your loved ones. And this is a great chance to send your Easter cards. You can also include this in your kid’s Easter basket.

Make Easter Treats

Bake cookies or make homemade treats in the kitchen with the kiddos. And if you don’t want to start from scratch, there’s a lot of stores and bakeries offering DIY cookie kits or cake pop kits.

Host a Videocall with Other Family Members

Holidays are great opportunities for us to spend time with our loved ones and enjoy the time together. Make some videocall plans with your loved ones to celebrate Easter together.

Easter Bingo Game

Bingo game is for all ages and an incredible choice to play at home. Get Easter-themed bingo kit to enjoy the spirit of Easter at home even more.

Egg the Neighbor

The idea behind the game is to hide some eggs in your neighbor’s yard or front patio. Make sure that it is safe to do so and that you have built a relationship with your neighbors that they would allow you to be on their property.

Egg Spoon Race

Egg racing could not be any simpler – all you need is a spoon and an egg. We use plastic Easter Eggs, but you could use real eggs (hard boiled for kids).

Do an Act of Kindness Together

The long Easter weekend is an excellent time to show you care for your community and other people. Do a random act of kindness and be a model to your kids. Leave some snacks or bottled water for the mailman, help clean the neighbor’s yard, pay the coffee or toll of someone behind you.

Send an Offering to Church

Provide offerings to your local church. Check with them on how you can assist or send some donations.
